First Class ( Second period)
As every group that I have
worked in my practices, they have taugh
me something new. So, this new group will help me to increase my skills at
teaching ESL better than I am doing . Well, the day seemed dark and sad because
a pouring rain was falling down there, and just a few number of students had
arrived to the classroom because they had problems to arrive to their
classroom. However, I had already written my agenda and all the details about
the lesson on the board. The class started with a warm up to instroduce the new
grammar structure to the students.
They were divided in groups of four members
and I provided them a quotation per each group. So, they had to read and
discuss it with the members of the group. On the other hand I introduced them
a puppet that I took to my class. So,
after they had read and analyzed the quotation, they had to take the puppet
and use it to report
who said the quotation but simulating that the puppet was speaking,
after that the student who had the puppet provided a explanation about the
quotation. The warm up was excellent
because it introduced the structure of reported speech. So, the mentor told me
that she liked this activity because the students were using reported speech
without any explanation.
